The questions people ask before booking.

If yours is not here, write to her — she answers these herself.

Is this Christian counselling or psychology?

Both, and she will not pretend otherwise. The clinical work is proper psychology — assessment, evidence-based method, and referral when something needs a psychiatrist or a doctor. Faith is part of how she sees a person, not a substitute for the work. If you would rather she left faith out of the room entirely, say so when you book. She will.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people do between six and twelve. You will have a clearer answer at the end of the first session, once she knows what she is working with. She will tell you if she thinks you need fewer.

My spouse will not come. Is there any point?

Yes. A marriage changes when one person changes how they show up in it. Come alone. If your spouse later decides to join, that is welcome, but it is not a condition.

Will anyone find out I came?

No. Sessions are confidential and nothing is shared with your family, church, school or employer without your written consent. The only exceptions are the ones the law requires — a serious risk to life, or the safety of a child.

Can we do this online? I am not in Nigeria.

Yes. Sessions run on video at a time that works across your timezone, and international rates are shown in dollars. She works regularly with Nigerians in the UK, US, Canada and Europe.

What if I cannot afford this?

She keeps a small number of reduced-fee places each month. Write to her and say so plainly. There is no form and no means test.

What is your cancellation policy?

Reschedule free up to 24 hours before your session. Inside 24 hours the fee is held, and she will move you once as a courtesy if something serious happened.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Christie is a psychologist and counsellor, not a psychiatrist. Where medication may help, she will refer you to a psychiatrist and continue the counselling work alongside it if you want that.

How is a counsellor different from a psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose and prescribe. A counselling psychologist works with you on understanding and changing what is happening. Many people need one, some need both, and Christie will tell you honestly which she thinks you are.

Can I bring my child to the session?

For a child and learning consult, parents attend the ninety minutes and whether the child attends is agreed in advance depending on age. For your own individual session, please arrange childcare — the hour is yours.

Do you work with unmarried couples?

Yes. Couples work is about the relationship in front of her, including pre-marital preparation, which is some of the most useful work she does.

How quickly can I be seen?

The calendar opens three weeks ahead and shows real availability. If nothing suitable is showing and the situation is pressing, write to her directly.

Still deciding?

You do not have to be certain to book. The first session is partly for working out whether this is the right room.

If you are in danger right now, do not wait for an appointment.

This practice is not an emergency service and messages are not monitored overnight. If you are thinking of ending your life, or you are not safe where you are, call one of these instead. They answer around the clock and they are free.
