Privacy and confidentiality.

Plainly stated, because you should not need a lawyer to understand what happens to what you say.

What stays private

Everything you say in session stays in session. Nothing is shared with your family, your spouse, your church, your school or your employer without your written consent.

The only exceptions

There are two, and they exist to protect life: if there is a serious and immediate risk to your life or someone else's, or if a child is at risk of harm. In either case Christie will tell you what she has to do before she does it, wherever it is safe to.

Your records

Brief notes are kept so that your sessions build on each other. They are stored securely, seen by no one else, and you may ask to see them or ask for them to be deleted at any time.

Couples and family sessions

What is said in a joint session is known to everyone in the room. Christie does not keep secrets between partners on behalf of one of them, and she will say so at the start rather than later.

This website

Booking details and payment are handled by Cal.com and Paystack, who process them on Christie's behalf. If you join the mailing list, your email address is used for that and nothing else, and every message carries an unsubscribe link. The site uses basic analytics to count visits; it does not build advertising profiles.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you may ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to hello@drchristieobey.com and it will be actioned.

If any of this is unclear, ask before your first session rather than after.

If you are in danger right now, do not wait for an appointment.

This practice is not an emergency service and messages are not monitored overnight. If you are thinking of ending your life, or you are not safe where you are, call one of these instead. They answer around the clock and they are free.
